The City Palace is an art and history lover’s paradise immersed in history dating back to the 18th century. The complex is also adorned with traditional murals and paintings pertaining to its royal heritage.
Located in the heart of the Pink City Jaipur, the City Palace is a vast complex of buildings and gardens. Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II constructed the outer walls between 1729 and 1732 AD, and over the centuries, various rulers from different eras have added to the architecture of this palace, and the architectural style of the palace reflects the fusion of Mughal, Indian, Rajput and even some European styles.
The palace houses the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum, while one of the oldest buildings is in the complex, the Chandra Mahal, continues to be the home of the Jaipur royal family. The Mubarak Mahal courtyard at the City Palace is an architectural masterpiece, also containing the textiles of the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II museum.
The City Palace is open Monday to Sunday, from 9:30 until 17:00. The entrance fee is Rs300/200 (adult/child). If this is included on out tours, the entrance fee will be covered by us – our Tour Manager will advise.
There are also official guides available for hire at the City Palace and most visitors spend an hour and a half to two hours within the complex.
